Greene writes to Laura Scales, thanking her for her hospitality and presenting her with a copy of her book: Foreshadowings of Smith College, letters from her mother Louisa Dickinson to her father John Morton Greene. Greene is credited with originating the idea of founding Smith College. Miss Scales was the Dean of Students of Smith College, 1922-1944. This letter was originally laid in Scales's copy of the book.
